Museum Passes

Dear Patrons:

Many of the museums and attractions have re-opened, but have restricted or temporarily canceled library pass usage due to social distancing protocols and new ways of ticketing. Please check with the venue to find out their admission guidelines and pass acceptance before your visit. If you need phone numbers or website information, please email or call the Reference Desk: 203-389-3434. 

For participating museums and attractions, you can now reserve and print your pass right from the comfort of home. If you don’t have a printer or computer at home, we will be more than happy to reserve the pass and print it out for you at the library. Printable passes do not need to be returned to the library, simply present it at the museum to receive your discount and then recycle it! Stop by the Information Desk to learn more about this great service.

Using a printable pass:

  • You must have a valid adult library card to reserve a pass
  • You may reserve and print a pass up to 60 days in advance
  • Present your printed pass at the museum or attraction
  • You cannot reserve the same pass twice in one month but you can reserve up to 5 different passes in a month.

Children's Museum / Roaring Brook Nature Center
Accepting library pass, but tickets must be purchased online.
This pass allows one free touring admission with every paid admission to a maximum of four free admissions per pass per day. Please note that Science Dome show tickets are an additional fee.
Connecticut's Old State House Closed.
Free regular admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children. The pass does not cover admission for after-hour events. 1796 National Historic Landmark is one of the nation's oldest state houses; features an interactive, multimedia exhibit which tells the story of Hartford and the importance of history in our lives.
Discovery Museum and Planetarium Closed.
Pass admits up to 4 children free with one paid adult admission. An interactive science museum with hands-on displays, permanent and traveling exhibits, gift shop, and food court.
Eli Whitney Museum and Workshop Both the museum and workshop are closed and expected to remain so for the foreseeable future.
Weekend walk in projects only. 2 adults and 2 kids.
Florence Griswold Museum Admission with 24-hour advance online ticketing only.
This pass admits 2 adults and 2 children under 12. The Florence Griswold is an art museum centered on the home of Florence Griswold (1850-1937)
Mark Twain House and Museum Accepting library pass, but visitors must make a reservation with the museum.

Mystic Seaport Museum Visitors are encouraged to buy their tickets online.
Pass provides 50% of admission for 2 adults and 3 children ages 3-17. The Mystic Seaport is the largest maritime museum in the United States. It is notable for its collection of sailing ships, boats, and fir the re-creation of the crafts and fabric of a 19th-century seafaring village.
New Britain Museum of American Art Visitors are required to make reservations and pay online in advance.
Free general admission for up to 4 people. The New Britain Museum of American Art is the first museum of strictly American art in the country.
New England Air Museum Admits card holder and up to 5 guests at 50% off of regular admission. The New England Air Museum, located in Windsor Locks, houses one of the world's most outstanding collections of historic aviation artifacts.
New Haven Museum Closed.
Free admission for four people. The New Haven Museum preserves and shares the history of the greater New Haven community through museum exhibitions, public programs and library resources. Explore 300 years of New Haven's colorful past!
Peabody Museum of Natural History $6 off admission for up to 4 people. The Peabody is among the oldest and largest university natural history museums in the world. It was founded in 1866 and is most known for its Great Hall of Dinosaurs and has permanent exhibits dedicated to human and mammal evolution, wildlife dioramas and Egyptian artifacts. Please note: the last day to visit the Dinosaur and Mammal Halls is December 31, 2019. The entire Museum will be closed to the public starting July 1, 2020.
Shore Line Trolley Museum Offers reserved spots which you can select online.
Pass grants 50% off admission for up to 6 people. The Shore Line Trolley is the oldest operating trolley museum in the United States. It was founded to preserve the heritage of the trolley car. The museum includes exhibits on trolley history and offers rides on restored trolleys along its 1.5 mile track.
Wadsworth Atheneum Operating at a limited capacity with timed, ticketed, entry.
Free admission for 2 adults. Children are always free. Additional fees apply during annual Festivals. Not valid for group tours or with other discounts. Not valid during "Art After Hours" events. The nation's oldest public art museum. World-renowned collections include Hudson River School landscapes, Old Masters, Impressionist paintings, modern and contemporary masterpieces, American furniture, and decorative arts.
Beardsley Zoo This is pass is valid for $9 admission per person for up to 6 guests. Limited to 1 family per day. The Beardsley Zoo is the only AZA accredited zoo in the state of Connecticut. It includes one of the few carousels in the state. Please call or visit library for availability.
Connecticut State Parks Pass This pass covers the cost of parking at state parks and forests where there is a charge. This includes beach state parks as well as inland parks. The pass also covers admission for two adults and four children at state historical sites and exhibit centers at Dinosaur, Fort Trumbull and Gillette Castle State Parks. Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk Admission with advanced tickets only.
This pass is good for $2 off for up to 6 people. This sizable aquarium offers 30+ fresh and saltwater exhibits, including a touch tank, theater and cafe as well as seal and bird spotting cruises along Long Island Sound at an additional cost. Please call or visit library for availability.
Mystic Aquarium The Aquarium offers scheduled passes on their website. They are not accepting library passes at this time.
$4 off general admission for up to 4 people. The Mystic Aquarium is one of two aquariums located in Connecticut. The Aquarium is one of three U.S. facilities holding Steller sea lions and it has the only beluga whales in New England. Please call or visit library for availability.
Stepping Stones Museum Temporarily closed.
